The Town Hall

The Town of Wellesley is a leader within Massachusetts and the United States in conservation and recycling. The April 2009 Town Meeting voted unanimously to support the Green Ribbon Study Committee's goal to reduce the entire Town's energy consumption by 10% by 2013. In an effort to provide leadership-by-example, the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant, in partnership with the Green Ribbon Study Committee and Town leaders, have set a goal to reduce municipal energy consumption by 20% in 2013. The Town Hall, Middle School and Wellesley Free Library are taking part in a pilot program using technology to track energy use in real time developed by GroundedPower, Inc. and will provide the primary foundation to achieve Wellesley's goals. The Grounded Power, Inc. technology is a state-of-the-art application that includes goal setting; real time data; quantifiable measures/monitoring and most important, fosters competition. This pilot program also includes 30 residential volunteers, and if it is successful, could be offered to the entire Town.
